Lessons from a Border Collie Series

My children books feature my Border Collie Ike. I Like Ike is the first book in a series of Lessons from a Border Collie. When Ike was a puppy, I found myself teaching him some of the same lessons that I was teaching worship concepts to children. God inspired me to have Ike show the children how to reach Him through worship. I have taught children how to worship God for over 30 years.

My second book in the Lessons from a Border Collie Series is called A Hike with Ike. In this book, Ike takes us on a hike through beautiful Colorado, helping children wonder about God and His creation. We learn who God is through what He has made.

Ike and the Shepherd of Psalm 23” explains the concepts behind the beloved Psalm 23, with examples from my adventures with Ike, and sheep characteristics. There are also nine names of God hidden in the Psalm, which help get to know God in a deeply personal way, by calling on Him by some of His many names.

Ike and the Shepherd of Psalm 23 explains the beloved Psalm to children and families, using adventures with Ike and sheep characteristics. My hope is that we can all be more like sheep, following our shepherd into lush green pastures where we are loved and taken care of.

A Hike with Ike explores God and His beautiful creation in Colorado. Getting to know God by what He made is the first step in teaching children to worship our creator.

I Like Ike explores the posture we must have in approaching God with some of the same lessons that I was training Ike when he was a puppy. Focusing our minds on God is the first step in getting to know Him.

YOU KNOW ME—PSALM 139

Children are struggling with their identity and purpose in life. In Psalm 139, God tells us who we are and that He knows us inside and out and still loves us unconditionally. He wants us to know Him and loves to be with us wherever we go. Babies love to look into faces as they build their capacity for joy. These faces are my grandchildren and grandnieces and grandnephews as well as my good friend’s grandchildren. No matter what our ethnic DNA, we are all part of the human race made in God’s image.

Ike continues to train and inspire me to paint and write about him. He comes from a ranch in Colorado and is a strong herder. Our adventures continue.
